Comments
This is Smer's Piper L4 Grasshopper in 1/48 scale. The kit is quite nice, unlike several other releases from this manufacturer. Fit is good and detail is ok for the scale, but the some modelers might want to improve the cockpit area. Painting was done with tamiya acrylics. Decals were the major problem because of transparency issues, but they got down ok over the plastic. Nice kit for the price and an easy project of a important subject.

Aircraft walkaround vol.56: Douglas A4-B Skyhawk

Subject:  Douglas A4-B Skyhawk.
Location: Intrepid Air and Sea Museum, New York, 2014.
Comments:The Douglas A-4 Skyhawk is a single seat carrier-capable attack aircraft developed for the United States Navy and United States Marine Corps. The delta winged, single-engined Skyhawk was designed and produced by Douglas Aircraft Company, and later by McDonnell Douglas. It was originally designated A4D under the U.S. Navy's pre-1962 designation systemThe Skyhawk is a lightweight aircraft with a maximum takeoff weight of 24,500 pounds (11,100 kg) and has a top speed of more than 600 miles per hour (970 km/h). The aircraft's five hardpoints support a variety of missiles, bombs and other munitions and were capable of delivering nuclear weapons using a low altitude bombing system and a "loft" delivery technique. The A-4 was originally powered by the Wright J65 turbojetengine; from the A-4E onwards, the Pratt & Whitney J52 was used. Skyhawks played key roles in the Vietnam War, the Yom Kippur War, and the Falklands War. Sixty years after the aircraft's first flight, some of the nearly 3,000 produced remain in service with several air arms around the world, including from the Brazilian Navy's aircraft carrier, São Paulo.

This is Revell's CH47 Chinook in 1/144 scale. Overall it is a nice kit. Fit is very good except for the windows. The panel lines were nicely engraved, witch is quite important considering the not very interesting painting scheme. The base is a simple picture frame and plasticard painted to represent a segment of an airfield. Painting was done with tamiya acrylics and decals are from the kit.
