This is a nice model to build. Resin casting is outstanding. As you can see by the review, there are not too many parts to built, so construction goes fast, quite a weekend project. Painting was done with alclad II and tamiya acrylics. Decals performed very well. The base is 1/35 scale display for figures. I just add a round piece of plasticard, painted it white an used an American flag decal. It was a fun and easy project!

1/72
Manufacturer:
Fujimi
Price(December2013):
US$35,00
Construction:
Out-of-the box construction.
Extras:
Authentic Decals Grumman E-2C Hawkeye/Hawkeye 2000 Atlantic Fleet set
Comments
This is the old Fujimi kit of the E-2C hawkeye. It has been on my workbench for quite a while. Since i got the Kinetic/Italeri kit of the same plane in 1/48 scale, i abandoned the project. However the kit was almost done. When i found the Authentic decals set for the E-2C i decided to finish it. The fit is ok, the panel lines are o mix of raised and recessed ones and overall detail is not even close to the new Hasegawa kit of the E-2C in 1/72 scale. The decals look really nice but were hard to work with, being very fragile. Painting was done with Tamiya acrylics, and i left a little glossy finish with Future. Not a weekend project and, unless you already have this kit, go with the Kinetic or Hasegawa offering!

2) The authentic decals set for E-2C Hawkeye

Engine walkaround vol.14: W.2B/500 Jet engine

Subject: W.2B/500 jet engine
Location: RAF Museum, Hendon, London, UK 2013.
Comments: This is a centrifugal type gas turbine that powered the early British jet fighters. I was built by at least three manufacturers in the United Kingdom. It produced a take-off thrust of 1755 lbs at 16750 r.p.m. This was an improved version of Frank Whittle's early design, the W.1. It was first manufactured by Power Jets ltd, but continuous delays made Whittle unhappy. Rolls-Royce got into the project and the design start to move in a more fast way. The Gloster E28/39 and F9/40 were both powered by this engine.

Kit review vol.15: 1/24 scale resin aircraft wheels

Subject:
1/24 scale wheels for BF109G-6, A6m Zero, and P51 Mustang
Scale:
1/24
Manufacturer:
Contact Resine
Price
US$ 10,00
Description
Resin casting. Subjects are represent as weighted and unweighted wheels.
Comments
These are nice releases from Contact Resine. In my opinion, a plastic modeler should work with plastic. I don´t like vinil tires because i think they are unrealistic and, with time, they destroy the plastic parts. Resin sets for 1/32 and 1/48 scale are easy to find. However, 1/24 scale are hard to get. These are french made and i found them thanks to Largescale plane forum. Thank you guys! You can get them at  http://www.design-marketingintl.com/ with a great service and inexpensive shiping charges.
